A long delayed blog entry in my overall goal/plan to write 30 blogs on the theme of BLOGGING FOR BETTER, but here it is...help us Recycle and Build a Splash Pad!
Nearly 18 months ago, Cherished Cherubs Child Care received the unique designation of Eco-Healthy Child Care Facility - the first of any child care program in the area. Our commitment to Eco-Healthy Child Care, led us to the Terracycle program, where items are diverted from the waste stream, and recycled into other things. In return for collecting these items, organizations such as Cherished Cherubs can receive "rewards points", which when accumulated to a certain amount, can then be converted into charitable contributions to the charity or organization of your choice. Initially we chose to sponsor the Breakfast for Learning program, but just a few months into our involvement with Terracycle, the interest in a community Splash Pad for North Grenville became a high priority item for families in our community. As one of the original supporters, and member of the North Grenville Splash Pad Committee, it became apparent that a better use of our recycling efforts would be to help raise funds for the Splash Pad we would like to see built at Riverside Park. It is not a huge fundraiser on it's own, but so many people in the community could easily contribute, helping to put money into the fund, while diverting waste from our landfills.
Cherished Cherubs would be pleased to collect certain items for the Terracycle program, and we have already indicated that the North Grenville Family Recreation and Leisure Fund will receive the charitable funds which are to be directed towards a Splash Pad project.
We are currently registered to collect any brand plastic outer wrap packaging of disposable diapers, the outer plastic packaging and individual packaging of wipes, sandwich bags and container, inkjet cartridges, and cell phones. Posters are below if you would like a visual idea of what we can collect. Please use our submission form if you would like to have more information on how you can help up recycle and reach our goal of building a Splash Pad. Thank-you for your support!
